The variety of birds in Ardnamurchan make it a mecca for birdwatchers of all ages, whether a keen amateur or professional. There are birdwatching trips available at the Glenborrodale Natural History Centre and most of the accommodation providers in the area will have more information about local bird watching and special seasonal visitors such as the spotted flycatcher and waxwings. Perhaps the most sought after sighting by most visitors is the Golden Eagle, now perhaps also one of the even larger Sea Eagle that have settled on Loch Sunart and the Isle of Mull.
Visitors to Ardnamurchan are able to cruise on Loch Shiel aboard the MV Sileas where this stunning loch offers great opportunities for viewing golden eagles, as well as red and the more rare black throated divers and many other birds and mammals. Loch Sunart offers a different view of birds including the mighty sea eagle which can be viewed aboard Laurenca on her daily trips around the waters of Loch Sunart.
If it's by foot or by car, just head for the hills, or sit by the loch side and you will be rewarded by numerous views of many of our species.
